As a hobbyist photographer, this is welcome news and even more reason to bring my iPad along with me during shoots. As a professional photographer this thing is (and always will be) an "App Store" toy - nothing more.

The iPad will never have the horse power to do what pros need.

How about fixing the bug where listening to home sharing from your iDevice doesn't update play counts in iTunes like its suppose to. Not sure if it's a iOS bug or a iTunes bug but it doesn't work on either Windows or OS X.
I assume you have this box checked:

I have a bad problem I can't seem to fix (for almost a year now). Thanks to Outlook, somehow a duplicate mailbox was created on the server for the admin user (me: gary). When mail is sent to gary@aspenridge.ca it is possible for it to end up in either of the two mailboxes in /var/spool/dovecot/mail. I manually (as root) deleted one of the mailboxes last year but every once in a while, the duplicate mailbox re-appears. Now, I should clarify that the mailbox is unique (has a unique name), however the owner is still listed as 'gary' twice. Here's the output of the directory:

    aspenridge:mail gary$ ls -l
    total 0
    drwx------ 21 melody mail 714 Dec 26 23:05 19368C01-774D-42B6-B753-8621DD72251F/
    drwx------ 17 enrique mail 578 Jan 20 14:21 2CFD6ABD-CABC-44C8-BA1A-82AB8CFF2AB4/
    drwx------ 13 gary mail 442 Jan 20 14:39 7CF2BDA1-2890-4DA9-9953-41C3425FDF13/
    drwx------ 17 nelly mail 578 Jan 20 13:08 BDA2D0D9-D21F-40FE-8C9E-DD868C750B1C/
    drwx------ 22 gferrer mail 748 Jan 20 14:31 D1D3FF6F-CE36-4682-A31A-F1B7A0E62DF8/
    drwx------ 11 tom mail 374 May 10 2010 E73B7452-101B-4ED5-B8C7-A9E7828288AE/
    drwx------ 9 com.apple.calendarserver mail 306 Nov 22 2009 E7E8C925-5BDA-40B4-A6E1-0806C22F55D4/
    drwx------ 16 gary mail 544 Jan 8 14:16 EDE561D8-F6F8-4C1F-A54B-210E5D60CD75/

As you can see, mailbox owned by 'gary' is there twice and this is a problem. I tried deleting the 'gary' user but the system won't allow me to (I think it's because it's the admin user originally created when setting up the system). Because I can't reliably receive mail as gary@aspenridge.ca, I had to create another user 'gferrer' instead and set 'gary' to forward mail to gferrer@aspenridge.ca in WM.

Any ideas what I can do here to fix the problem?

    Thanks.

Well said, I was trying to think of a way to explain this useless plan, you just did it.
    I too have 9500 r/o minutes, a family plan @1400 min/month.

If I drop, I loose the R/O, loose the top ten, and now flirt with overage.

Just another tactical way to spin it to look like they are doing everyone a favor. (those on higher plans** that is)

If most of your calls are to mobile numbers, now you can drop to a 900 minute or 700 minute plan (depending on how many minutes you need for landline calls). Yes you will loose a bunch of rollover minutes, but you won't need them anymore. A-List in your case, requires a plan of 900 minutes or more, so if you want to keep A-List (for landlines) then drop down to 900 minute plan. In addition, you can move all those A-List mobile numbers off of the A-List and make room for more landlines in there.

It's not clear to me *why* it goes on sale at 5 PM, it's just clear that's how it's going to happen. I expect Apple store employees to direct iPad 2 buyers to a line which will start getting serviced at 5.

I will send you a copy of it if you PM me your email address. It is to big to post here without losing alot of quality, and messing up the edges as JPEG compression does. Also tell me if you want the orange one or just a plain copy of the skull that you can color yourself.

I think they will use the new 256-Bit advanced vector extensions (256-Bit AVX) of the Sandy Bridge processors. It makes sense, because GPU-based solutions like Badaboom do not reach the same quality as CPU-based solutions. The AVX are ideal for video codecs, filters an so on.

Yeah, that means we will see new Pro hardware from Apple "early next year". And no, you will not see LP in Macs until 2015.

    ;)

Almost word-for-word, the exact same argument that was made by Luddites against these fancy, new-fangled mouse and GUI-based computers back in the mid-80s.

I don't think that barmann was making a case against a new technology that didn't fit the old ways like when mice were first introduced. His point was that as much as iPad fanboys want it to be the coolist thing ever that will replace all those old-fashioned computers there are differences in machines between consumer ones and those used by professionals.

It's not expected that consumers are going to know the short comings of their iPads any more than they know the shortcomings of their flat screen TVs. Even the new MBPs have professional use issue because of their displays. The MBPs are of limited pro use as long as one knows their limitations where as the iPad is of almost no pro use other than "look at this".

One really funny thing is all devices now that can make an iPad seem like a laptop! Boxes that keyboards fit into and cases that stand up are laughable because as nice as an iPad is it really sucks as a computer compared to the cheapest Air or MBP.

This doesn't fit in the 75x75 size or under the 39.1K filesize limit so it won't get counted... sorry.

so this is only unlimited "to" any mobile, what about "From"

Hope they do this on verizon as well. Is it unlimited calling TO and FROM cell phones?

I'm suspicious of the TO any mobile. Does it differentiate incoming from outgoing?

    From the press release (http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=19039&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=31589):

**Mobile to Any Mobile Calling - Available only with select Nation and FamilyTalk plans. Direct calls to & direct calls received from US mobile numbers only. Rollover Minutes: Unused Anytime Mins expire after the 12th billing period. Night & Weekend & Mobile to Mobile mins do not roll over.

    Hello,

I was curious as to why we can no longer click on a sub-forum link? If I am currently in the "Site and Forum Feedback" forum and want to go to the "Mac Community" sub-forum I cannot, it will only allow me to go back to the main index.

A little confusing I know. Please see the screenshot, I would like to be able to click on the highlighted link.

Competition is a good thing. I'm on my third Twitter App right now, and this looks promising. I'm going to get this one and hopefully it will be better than the App I have right now. And hopefully competition will keep making the Apps better and better. :)
