Hi,
Anybody recently filed PIO through Travisa at DC embassy, please share your experience. I sent the application for my 1 and a half month daughter who is born here, and planning to travel to India in June. I would like to know how long does it take if the documentation is correct and is there any tracking system to know the status.
No issues I got it in 10 days...tracking you would get emails about the approval.

I have my I-20 from University X, but I don't have the I-20 form from University Y.
Contact the International Students Office in University Y. Most colleges keep a copy of your I20. You can use that copy.
Also, SEVIS has a record of all the I20s issued to you and the colleges and degrees you completed.

My PD 15 July 2002 EB3 India and
I485 Receipt Date May 12, 2004
Found that someone with Aug 2002 PD got approved on June 1 whose I485 Receipt date was May 2003.
I guess USCIS does not go by PD to select who should be adjucated first but by what date the I485 was received. They are really ingenious and creative in finding ways to be inefficient and unjust.
Oh well....
IV is the only place that is doing a lot to change.

The H1B are positioned better as they can relocate quickly. Most of USC and GC dont relocate due to housing ownership. While H1B homeownership is low.
I personally know atleast 20+ USC not willing to move to greener grounds just because they have house.
Housing did create a biased USC/GC jobseeker.

The hostile environment does not end with the new H-1B petitions. Report indicates that the H-1B workers are increasingly stranded abroad not being able to obtain the visa stamp abroad pending so-called protracted security checks and consequently not being able to return to the U.S. to resume employment. Should this environment continue, the business environment for the U.S. businesses will continuously deteriorate and the businesses will continuously suffer unless they take out their businesses and jobs abroad to meet the needed workforces in order to stay in business in increasingly competitive global economy. Nothing will be able to stop the offshore outsourcing of the U.S. businesses. This is something the Obama Administration should think about very quick before too late.

Donot be suprised to expect more, one of my friends at IBM got letter (from IBM attorney) asking to state client location etc..I think it could be based on any new USCIS H1B rules or verification ??
How things change over time..1999 and 2009 opposite in almost most ways. job offers, rates, hostility, length of job contracts etc

Yesterday i got the mail from USCIS stating below. "My PD Dec 2006, INDIA, EB2 (I GOT MARRIED AFTER I APPLIED FOR I 485, SO MY WIFE IS NOT YET IN APPLICATION. I AM WAITING FOR DATES TO GET CURRENT FOR ME SO I CAN ADD HER INTO MY APPLICATION"
I dont know whether its a good sign or bad sign. I scanned and send this letter to my company and attorney.GURUS and EXPERTS pls help me!!!!!

Its simple,,fill in form 10c and and form 19 and send it to HR. They should even help you get it direct deposit in to your local account in India. I got mine....it was pain-less. This was not with tcs,,,another company...
My case is not simple but i did not quit in usa either..i resigned without doing the notice period in india sometime back.
So is it possible to file 10C and 19 directly with the PF office and get the money without involving TCS?

I applied online for EAD on 10/23, no finger priting notice yet was asked to wait 30 days to enquire about it. All materials sent to NSC as mentioned, my I-485 is pending at TSC. Did anyone go through the same delay?
that is how ineffecient they are, best thing you can do is, site that your h1 will expire and u dont have plans of h1 renewal and u planning to use EAD, i dont know what else could be more extreme than not having an EAD when you want to use it :)

something this big will effect your status. Once you form an LLC or something on those lines using your EAD it is my understanding that you will lose your H1 status. This is just from what I have understood from reading around here. You might want to consult a lawyer. Also you might look at posting this in a different section.

The business analyst you are mentioning is classified as systems analyst in USCIS code. In this case its prefereable to have computers or electrical degree. A civil engineering degree is little difficult to understand
Other than a MBA or MS, what else could be a better qualification for Analysts / Business Analysts??? Why shld they question the need for Masters? I was of the opinion that for a Business Analyst type profile, MBA would be apt / required to perform the duties.... your thoughts?

When I went for H1B stamping my B1 was cancelled and I was told one can not have more than one visa at the same time.

Yr employer is correct. You can't apply for SSN before OCT 1st as yr H1 starts from OCT 1st. When you go to SSN office, they look at yr current i-94 to find out yr current immigrant status (H1/H4/L1,etc) and if you current i-94 is for H4 then they won't allow you to apply for SSN. I had same exp for my wife. We applied on 2nd Oct in VA.
Hope this helps.

so those that didn't pay the new fees when they filed 485 but paid the new fees for renewal of EAD and AP what happens to them? do they also get free renewals?
They don't get free renewal .. they have to pay everytime they renew their EAD/AP. :(
luckily right now we can get 2 years EAD for every renewal (some conditions apply).
ps : need more green <hint> <hint> :D

Can you prove that you were born in Nepal? Without proof, you won't be able to change it in your passport.
